Career Technology Education

Career Technology Education (CTE) provides all students opportunities to explore and enhance possibilities for future education or preparing for a career. Students choose a career path/major and then select courses that correspond to their choice. Career Clusters are made up of two or more majors or areas of academic focus.  A major consists of at least four required units of study in the area plus complementary electives. In order to complete a major, it is recommended that students take one higher level course within the major. Students who complete four units in a specified area obtain completer status and may qualify for advanced standing when pursuing education beyond high school. Many classes fall within Horry County Schools Articulation agreement guidelines with Horry Georgetown Technical College, which exempts students from some HGTC classes.
